Alternative classification of hotels
:

Some countries use alternative classifications of hotels.

For instance, in Turkey you can stay at Holiday Villages which are divided to:
5*HV — First class holiday village with accommodation in bungalows. It corresponds to 5-star hotel differing from it with a good animation, large green territory, while the rooms are smaller.
4*HV — Holiday village of a lower class.

In some places in Greece hotels are still marked with Latin letters:
De Luxe corresponds to 5* hotels
А — to 4-4+* hotels
В — to 3-3+* hotels
С — to 2* hotels
D — to 1* hotels
Presently Greece began the transition to the standard classification of hotels.

Distance from the sea (beach)

Hotels also differ according to the following standard:

1st coastline
— hotels right on the seashore;

2nd coastline
— hotels with a road or a promenade between their area and the beach.

City Hotel
— hotel located in a resort city but at a larger distance from the seashore (beach). Tourists usually get to the beach on foot or by bus.
