Recreation in Azerbaijan is very diverse, and here tourists may expect to find mountains and sea, reserves and ancient monuments, diversity of natural landscapes and climate zones. In Azerbaijan alpine deserts are wonderfully coexistent with evergreen forests. Ancient riparian woodlands believed to have remained unchanged for over 13 million years are not found anywhere else in the world. Azerbaijan is also a real paradise for ecological and ethnographic tourism. It has very rich and diverse flora (over 4,100 kinds of plants, including 200 endemic species) and fauna (about 12,000 animal species). Magnificent mountains in the northern parts of the country – Shahdagh, and in the south, in Talysh are the most virgin and untouched in all the Caucasus. The largest reserves of Azerbaijan: Qizilaghac, Zaqatala, Hirkan, Shirvan and others preserve the unique animal world of our country.
Azerbaijan has a subtropical climate, and the summer weather on the Caspian beaches is quite favourable for those who like to bask in the warm sunshine. You can visit Sheki and Qobustan, Shahdagh and Quba, Qabala and Lankaran, and see Baku with its 130 museums, theatres, galleries and unique ancient mausoleums.
